Transitional Living Programs for Struggling Young Adults - At The Crossroads

Transitional living programs for struggling young adults provide the skill development that young adults need to transition from teen hood into adulthood. We recommend "At The Crossroads" (ATC) for parents of young adults who are need of living skills development. For immediate help for your struggling young adult please call 866-439-9664.  Our Family Advocate can help you through the entire process, from searching for the perfect solution to the enrollment.

At The Crossroads is a program geared to addressing a number of issues facing young adults today; this is accomplished through individual and family therapy, a regimented and monitored schedule, holding young people accountable, and teaching executive functioning skills. Students will often come to our program that have had previous failed placements in a treatment program, therapeutic boarding school, or wilderness therapy program.  Or, our students come directly from home and are in treatment for the first time. Usually, our students present with struggles around anxiety, depression, family conflict, executive functioning, or some form of substance abuse.

While enrolled our residentis attend a minimum of one-hour of individual and family therapy weekly with a licensed therapeutic (more therapy time can be added when needed). In addition, group therapy is conducted on a weekly basis, as well as a living skills group once per week.  All group and therapy sessions are conducted by licensed therapists. Furthermore, the therapists conduct monthly telephone calls with family members to coach and instruct them on working with ATC and their young adults. And every six months, ATC hosts a parent weekend, consisting of psycho educational didactic training, outdoor group activities, as well as family therapy.

At The Crossroads places a heavy emphasis on accountability and integrity. Student are not permitted to miss sessions and other appointments. If they do, they receive logical consequences, such as having to pay a portion of their missed appointment fee.  At this stage of life, young people need direction in managing emotions and impulse in healthy and productive ways.  Many individuals also need structure to assist them in making choices that work and demonstrate a respect for themselves and others.  Further, learning how to acquire independent living skills, such as interviewing for maintaining employment, being of service to the community, and understanding fiscal responsibilities, are all a salient part of necessary growht at this stage of life.  ATC provides these opportunities and more.
